Hunter Netball 2023 Metro League Team Announced

The DOOLEYS Metro League is one of the top netball competitions in NSW, offering weekly competition up against the state's most talented traditionally metropolitan Sydney based teams.

Hunter Netball will again have a team entered in the 2023 competition and is looking forward to hitting the courts at Netball Central home of Netball NSW in Homebush each week.

This is a demanding competition, with the added challenge of travel and distance for our athletes who will play in Sydney each week once the competition gets underway in the week commencing 27 March.

Lexi Unicomb will lead the athletes as Head Coach of the Hunter Netball team in 2023, supported by Sally Unicomb as Team Manager.

This year's athletes see a large number of returning players but also welcomes some new athletes to the Hunter Netball family.

With a strong shooting combination of Carrie Lind, Mia Marshall and Ella McCluskey supported in the mid court by Kienna Clegg, Zahlee Connolly, Tara Fidock, Lilian Howe and Xanthe Rheinburger and an equally impressive defensive end with Emily Morgan, Olivia Pirillo, Ella Smith and Ella Tupou.

Hunter Netball is excited in 2023 to offer training partners to six emerging players in the Hunter including Erin Dalzell, Famke McCallum, Lara Mellon, Midori Rees, Tahni Sunerton and Lucy Webber. These athletes will train each week with the team and be on standby for call up into the team should injury or illness occur.

We are really looking forward to a strong season at Hunter Netball in 2023 and thank all of our Hunter Netball Associations for their support as well as the athlete's pathway programs that run in the Hunter being Aspire Netball, Hunter Academy of Sport and NettyHeads - each program offers a uniquely different program for Hunter athletes.

Hunter Netball is strong because of the support of our Community Partners KBA Insurance Repairs, Purnell Awards and Apparel, Regent Street Physiotherapy, Hunter Homes, McDonalds Bennetts Green, Greater Bank, Newcastle Airport and Newcastle Weekly.

Hunter Netball will celebrate their season launch on Friday 10 March at Charlestown Leagues Club with both their Metro League team and the Junior Boys team who will represent the Hunter at this year's Junior State Titles.
