Hunter Netball 1 played a tough game on Thursday 28 April, after a short Easter break to take on Central Coast 1, this was a tight local derby at Netball Central.
From the very first quarter this was a tight game 11 all at the end of quarter one. Central Coast Heart took the lead at half time ahead by 4 goals 24 to 20. Hunter Netball took the time to regroup ahead of the send half. Down a key defender in Emma Rumbel it was tough being on the sideline.
Central Coast Heart had a strong third quarter extending the lead 35 to 27 but Hunter Netball fought hard as they took to the court for the final quarter scoring 12 goals to Central Coast 6 goals but it was not enough with the final score being 39 Hunter to 41 Central Coast Heart.
This week both Hunter Netball Team 1 and 2 will take to the courts. Monday night will see Hunter Netball 2 take on Sutherland Shire 2 at 7pm. Whilst Hunter Netball 1 will take on Hawkesbury City 1 on Thursday night again at 7pm.
But netball is not just about the players, and last week Hunter Umpire Ben Hole from Lakeside Netball Association was awarded his National A Badge as he officiated over the pinnacle games in Netball NSW competition Premier League.
Most Hunter Netball Associations were back at their grassroot games over the weekend which will have seen more than 20,000 from across the Hunter take to courts with the local Associations.
Netball really is strong in the Hunter.
